Biodata of Elisa Shafiqah
Elisa Shafiqah is the co-founder of GenZDiplomacy in Malaysian Youth Diplomacy (MyDiplomacy) and researcher at Malaysian Youth Education for Reform Movement (MYER). Completed her Law Foundation in Pusat Asasi, UiTM Dengkil with Dean's Award, she pursued her tertiary education by enrolling in Bachelor of Arts (International and Strategic Studies) in Universiti Malaya. Currently finished with the first semester, she spends her time curating content for her NGO works while working on her second article journal. She will be majoring in International Law and Policy Analysis for her degree. Her research interests include geopolitics, political literacy, diplomacy, international relations and affairs, governance and international law, primarily focused on youth empowerment and accessibility towards the minority.
Besides her participation in the lecture and/or classrooms, Elisa have been actively embarked in various spectrum of co-curricular activities to harness her skills. She has co-written a conference paper (which will be published in a journal soon) on political literacy among youth entitled 'Malaysian Political Sphere: When Is the Right Time for the Youth to Join?' in 2020 while posting several articles regarding international law and foreign policies in her blog's From Elisa's Desk. Aside from that, she has curating academic posts for GenZDiplomacy which touches on international relations theory and diplomacy, and MyDiplomacy on contemporary international relations and law issues.
Furthermore, Elisa spends her free time giving back to the youth in advocating for social justice and education reform through joining several international Model United Nations (MUN) conferences. She have chaired over 4 councils whereas delegated more than 10 times in councils namely UNHCR, ECOSOC, ASEAN, UNEP, UNDP, Dewan Rakyat and Historical Crisis over the span of 3 years. From her time spend on MUN, she garnered over 9 physical awards such as Best Delegate and Best Position Paper which she utilizes her natural debating skills. By having such experience in debating, advocating and being diplomatic, she channel her expertise by conducting training her alma mater in attaining such attributes through MUN. In addition, she has also convened several part-time projects during the semester break of her foundation years in teaching ways to read case law and understanding basic Jurisprudence with over 500+ participants recorded throughout the span of 3 months.
